Ingredients

  • 3 large ripe bananas
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted (113 g)
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar, packed (150 g)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (5 ml)
  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour (180 g)
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips (170 g)

Directions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x5-inch loaf pan or line it with parchment paper.
  2. Mash the bananas in a large bowl until mostly smooth.
  3. Add the melted butter, brown sugar, eggs, and vanilla and whisk until combined.
  4. Add the flour, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon. Gently mix until just combined.
  5. Fold in 3/4 cup of the chocolate chips, reserving the rest for the top.
  6. Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and spread it evenly. Sprinkle the remaining chocolate chips over the top.
  7. Bake for 55-65 minutes, until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean or with a few moist crumbs.
  8. Let the banana bread cool in the pan for 10-15 minutes, then remove it and allow it to cool before slicing and serving.
