Ingredients

  • 8 thick slices brioche or Texas toast
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup whole milk (120 mL)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (5 mL)
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar (25 g)
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp unsalted butter (28 g), for cooking
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (50 g)
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • Maple syrup

Directions

  1. Cut each slice of bread into 3 thick strips to make French toast sticks.
  2. In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, sugar, and salt.
  3. In a separate shallow bowl, mix together the sugar and cinnamon for the cinnamon-sugar coating.
  4. Dip each bread stick into the egg mixture, turning to coat all sides. Let any excess mixture drip off.
  5. Melt the butter in a large skillet or griddle over medium heat.
  6. Add the coated French toast sticks and cook for 2–3 minutes per side, turning until all sides are golden brown.
  7. While still warm, roll each French toast stick in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until lightly coated.
  8. Serve warm with maple syrup for dipping.
