Ingredients
- 8 thick slices brioche or Texas toast
- 3 large eggs
- 1/2 cup whole milk (120 mL)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (5 mL)
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar (25 g)
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter (28 g), for cooking
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar (50 g)
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- Maple syrup
Directions
- Cut each slice of bread into 3 thick strips to make French toast sticks.
- In a shallow bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, sugar, and salt.
- In a separate shallow bowl, mix together the sugar and cinnamon for the cinnamon-sugar coating.
- Dip each bread stick into the egg mixture, turning to coat all sides. Let any excess mixture drip off.
- Melt the butter in a large skillet or griddle over medium heat.
- Add the coated French toast sticks and cook for 2–3 minutes per side, turning until all sides are golden brown.
- While still warm, roll each French toast stick in the cinnamon-sugar mixture until lightly coated.
- Serve warm with maple syrup for dipping.
