Homemade Donuts
Soft homemade donuts fried until golden, dipped in vanilla glaze, and finished with colorful toppings.

Ingredients
- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour (280 g)
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar (25 g)
- 2 tsp baking powder (8 g)
- 1/2 tsp salt (3 g)
- 3/4 cup whole milk (180 mL)
- 1 large egg
- 3 tbsp unsalted butter, melted (42 g)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (5 mL)
Glaze
- 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar (180 g)
- 3 tbsp milk (45 mL)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (5 mL)
- Toppings (Optional):
- Pink frosting or glaze
- Chocolate glaze
- Rainbow sprinkles
- Powdered sugar
- Jelly or cream filling (for 1–2 donuts)
Directions
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Add milk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla extract, then mix until a soft dough forms.
- Roll dough out and cut into donut shapes.
- Fry donuts in hot oil until golden brown on both sides, then transfer to a cooling rack.
- Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla until smooth to make a glossy glaze.
- Dip warm donuts into glaze until coated.
- Decorate some donuts with pink frosting, chocolate glaze, rainbow sprinkles, or powdered sugar.
- Optionally fill a donut with jelly or cream and serve warm.
