Ingredients
For the Biscuits
- 2 cups all-purpose flour (240 g)
- 1 Tbsp baking powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cubed (113 g)
- 3/4 cup cold buttermilk (180 mL)
For the Filling
- 6 breakfast sausage patties
- 6 large eggs
- 6 slices cheddar cheese
- 1 Tbsp butter
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
Directions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt in a large bowl.
- Cut the cold butter into the flour mixture until coarse crumbs form, then gently stir in the buttermilk until a shaggy dough comes together.
- Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface, gently fold it a few times, then pat it about 1 inch thick.
- Cut the dough into 6 round biscuits and arrange them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake for 12–15 minutes, until the biscuits are tall and golden brown.
- Cook the sausage patties in a skillet over medium heat until browned and cooked through, then set aside.
- Melt the butter in the skillet and cook the eggs until the whites are set and the yolks reach your preferred doneness. Season with salt and black pepper.
- Split each warm biscuit and layer the bottom half with a sausage patty, cooked egg, and slice of cheddar cheese.
- Add the biscuit tops and serve warm while the cheese is melted.
